Storytelling, soul and compassion beat at the heart of award-winning vocalist Georgia Mancio’s 3rd Hang: a brace of collaborations that this year illuminates her extraordinary lyric writing.

Where We Once Belonged features a group of multi-faceted artists sharing stories, songs and music of their heritage, in a reflection of and response to our current times. Mancio pens intriguing family portraits from Europe and beyond co-created with pianist/songwriter Tom Cawley  Alongside them, pianist/composer Robert Mitchell   presents a poetic response to the Windrush scandal – himself a child of the Generation – with cellist Shirley Smart . And Kim Macari weaves spoken word with an improvised solo trumpet in evocative soundworlds, exploring her roots as a Scottish woman.


 

 

Finding Home  is a collection of songs, old and newly written, for voice, piano trio and string quartet, co-produced with pianist/composer Kate Williams and released as an album earlier this year. From the tragedy of the refugee crisis to romantic spoken word groove, reworked classics from Chile, Brazil and the Great American Songbook, a focus on the natural world, loss and hope: Finding Home has garnered 4 star reviews from The Guardian, The Financial Times, Jazzwise, the Evening Standard, Jazz Journal and London Jazz News.

Songbook with Grammy-winning pianist Alan Broadbent was launched with a sell-out debut at Ronnie Scott’s in 2017 with subsequent engagements across Europe and the US including Dizzy’s and Kitano (NYC) and Rochester, London and Krakow International Jazz Festivals. Completing their quartet are acclaimed bassist Oli Hayhurst and drummer Dave Ohm,

Mancio’s previous credits include Bobby McFerrin, Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw, Bobby Wellins, Gwilym Simcock, Darius Brubeck, Pat Metheny (lyric approval) and her own international voice festival ReVoice! Her multiple nominations in the Parliamentary, British Jazz and Urban Music Awards are a testament to her nuanced and emotionally engaging performances, the boundless evolution of her talents, all always shot through with integrity and individuality.
