Recently we have received a number of requests from our non European readers to feature gig’s outside of Europe. Seeing our focus is the European jazz scene and we have a global readership, in fact just under 50% of our readers are located outside of Europe, we have decided to honour this request and will now include gig’s outside of Europe in our featured gig’s section. Recently we have published news of a number of important concerts at the Lincoln Center in NYC and now we want to spotlight a gig this Wednesday at Mike Sterns “favourite hangout” the iconic 55 Bar located at 55 Christopher Street in Manhattan.

On Wednesday, a band that we recently published an extensive interview with TJP, will be presenting their new CD “Peace and Love” at the 55 Bar. The band includes Paul Jost-vocal/harmonica, Tony Miceli-vibraphone, Kevin MacConnell-bass with Doug Hirlinger-drums and special guest Joel Frahm-saxophone. One of the great things about the 55 Bar is that there is no cover charge, a rarity these day’s in New York.

The concert will highlight the music on their album including songs as “Get Together”, “Wonderful World”, “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” and “America the Beautiful.” In these tumultuous times, the band hopes the messages in their album will resonate, bringing back reminders of the hippie generation when dialogue and constructive action for peace and love took place everywhere.

As a group, these highly acclaimed musicians interpret classic rock as jazz. They are devoted to reaching new audiences for jazz with innovative arrangements of music by such artists as The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Blind Faith and many others. A Philadelphia-based band that performs worldwide, they play frequently throughout Pennsylvania, in New York and New Jersey and have toured in South Korea and Europe. Their first CD titled “Can’t Find My Way Home” has been played regularly on Sirius XM radio and has audiences raving about their unexpected interpretations of this music. They are reaching into the “baby boomer” and subsequent generations who came of age with rock and roll, the Beatles, hard rock, and other genres which are rarely played by jazz groups.
