Cherise – Jazz FM Vocalist of The Year

Written by | New Single, News

Following an incredibly successful 2019, winning Vocalist Of The Year at the Jazz FM Awards and perform at the Jazz Voice opening gala for the EFG London Jazz Festival alongside Corinne Bailey Rae and Cécile McLorin Salvant. The hotly-tipped UK vocalist CHERISE has announced the release of her long-awaited debut EP Paradise in January 2020, with the title track out now.

CHERISE is a fiercely talented vocalist whose performance style fuses her passion for soul and neo-soul with her appreciation of jazz. Since graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in late 2017, Cherise has been invited to perform at many of the UK’s most prestigious venues and festivals ranging from the BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall and the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C to Love Supreme Jazz Festival and Cheltenham Jazz Festival, as well as joining London based collective Nubiyan Twist as vocalist and frontwoman on their forthcoming album and European tour.

All four tracks on Paradise were composed and arranged by CHERISE, offering an insight into her classical upbringing playing viola and flute, and her love of soul and jazz which stems from listening to her mother’s favourite artists such as Marvin Gaye, Toni Baxton, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. Cherise began to develop her passion for music at the age of sixteen when she became a member of  Tomorrow Warriors – an organisation and mentorship scheme which has supported the likes of Femi Koleoso (Ezra Collective), Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd, Cassie Kinoshi, Sheila Maurice Grey and Mark Kavuma amongst many others.

Cherise Adam-Burnett will perform at Kings Place on 7th February to celebrate the release of her debut EP. Tickets available HERE
