North Sea Jazz announces International Line-up.

With the 2018 Festival Season fast approaching we are now seeing the major festivals make their first announcements as to who will be headlining the coming edition’s. Yesterday the North Sea Jazz Festival who released details of a host of international stars, icons and pioneering acts from across the worlds of jazz, soul, blues, RnB and beyond who will perform at the three-day event.

Running across the weekend of 13th-15th July, this year’s festival will present an array of jazz supergroups including ‘Hudson’ with Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, John Medeski and Scott Colley; Pat Metheny with Antonio Sanchez, Linda Oh and Gwilym Simcock; Billy Hart Quartet with special guest Joshua Redman; Vijay Iyer Sextet with Graham Haynes, Mark Shim, Steve Lehman, Stephan Crump and Jeremy Dutton; ‘R + R’ featuring Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, Christian Scott, Taylor McFerrin, Derrick Hodge and Justin Tyson; and ‘Queen of Sheba’, a symphonic project from Ibrahim Maalouf & Angelique Kidjo.

Other high profile acts confirmed to perform include Grammy winner, Cécile McLorin Salvant, the Mingus Big Band, Pharoah Sanders, Marcus Miller, BADBADNOTGOOD and Carla Bley with the music of ‘Trios’.

The festival will also once again present a selection of acts from the wider jazz and soul spectrum including new R&B/soul star Khalid, The O’Jays, Earth Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Gary Clark Jr., Moses Sumney and Ibeyi. Additional acts will be announced in due course.

Since its inception in 1976, The North Sea Jazz Festival has built an unrivaled reputation as one of the world’s most unique and eclectic events which attracts music fans from across the globe. This year, the organisation will present more than 1000 musicians, spread out over 150 performances across 15 stages.
