Following their 10th anniversary celebrations this year, Edition Records is entering an exciting new phase of growth with the development of its executive team. From Sept 2018, industry experts Amy Pearce and Mike Bartlett will join Edition as Associate Directors.

Edition’s reputation is based on boldness and creative new thinking. They have welcomed a wealth of European and American talent to their roster; artists attracted by a global distribution infrastructure and a fresh effective promotional approach. Recent success stories include a Mercury-nominated album, Associate Label partnerships with both Kings Place / London and Turner Sims / Southampton and becoming an official curator on Apple Music.

The label’s success and longevity is credited to the passion of founding CEO Dave Stapleton (Read our interview with Dave here), coupled with the international success of many of his artists including Phronesis, Dinosauareand Verneri Pohjola, who have returned repeatedly to collaborate with Edition. By building the executive team, Edition has the opportunity to rethink how a modern record label can operate in the 21st century and how best to collaborate with creative jazz artists in the development of their careers.

As an Associate Director of Serious, managing the planning and production of all their events including the London Jazz Festival Amy Pearce has 18 years of experience programming and promoting jazz. On her appointment as Associate Director at Edition Amy stated, “Edition is a bold and innovative music company – nimble in their approach, dedicated to their artists and creative in seeking new audiences for the music. I’m delighted to bring my experience and network of international relationships to the table – to support the artists already on the label, to welcome new talent and to maximise our global impact.”

Mike Bartlett’s career to date has taken him through stints at all of the major labels (including Universal, where he had responsibility for an extensive jazz roster). He founded his own company in 2014, working with labels and artists. Mike said; “I’ve worked with jazz labels for many years, and I’m really excited to get involved with Edition at this key point in its development. It’s an incredible label with a fantastic team and massive potential. The future is bright for independent labels who can take advantage of the huge range of opportunities on offer in the current market. I’m looking forward to supporting Edition’s existing roster and new signings, as we build a global platform”.
