East Sussex is gearing up for a musical extravaganza as the Love Supreme Jazz Festival, Europe’s largest outdoor jazz event, prepares to take center stage from July 5th to 7th. With a lineup boasting over 100 acts, including legendary performers and rising stars, this year’s festival promises to be a unforgettable celebration of jazz in all its glorious forms.

Leading the charge are two powerhouse vocalists who have left an indelible mark on the music industry. Chaka Khan, a 10-time Grammy winner, will headline the Sunday night, treating fans to a retrospective of her illustrious 50-year career. Meanwhile, breakout star Olivia Dean, fresh off a whirlwind year that saw her nominated for three Brit Awards and releasing a Mercury-nominated debut album, will take the stage on Saturday for her first-ever festival headline performance.

The Love Supreme Jazz Festival is renowned for curating a diverse lineup that showcases the breadth and depth of contemporary jazz. This year’s edition is no exception, with a stellar array of acclaimed artists from around the globe.

Attendees can look forward to performances by multi-award-winning US vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, visionary multi-instrumentalist and Grammy winner Meshell Ndegeocello, and Mercury-nominated Scottish pianist Fergus McCreadie. Japanese piano virtuoso Hiromi will bring her Sonicwonder project to the festival, while Blue Note drummer Johnathan Blake and 8-time Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride will showcase their exceptional talents.

Fans of fusion and boundary-pushing jazz will be treated to a feast of performances. Legendary drummer Billy Cobham, affectionately known as “fusion’s greatest drummer,” will present his Time Machine project shortly after celebrating his 80th birthday. Rising star Roni Kaspi, a boundary-pushing young drummer, will also take the stage, along with fiery US saxophonist James Brandon Lewis.

Beyond the exceptional musical lineup, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival offers a diverse range of experiences for attendees. The Wellness and Yoga area provides a serene space for relaxation and rejuvenation, while the Children’s Area ensures a family-friendly atmosphere with engaging activities.

The Supremium area promises a premium experience, offering exclusive benefits and the opportunity to witness intimate artist performances. Meanwhile, the Jazz Lounge will host a series of artist interviews, talks, panel discussions, and film screenings, providing a deeper dive into the world of jazz.

For those seeking late-night revelry, the Blue In Green area nestled in the woods will feature live music and DJs until the early hours. Additionally, the Bands & Voices area will present cabaret, spoken word, and swing dance lessons, adding a touch of whimsy and creativity to the festival experience.

While the contemporary jazz scene takes center stage, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival also pays homage to legendary performers. Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Dionne Warwick will grace the festival with her timeless hits, while the 70 million-selling US funk outfit Kool & The Gang, celebrating 60 years since their formation, will bring their infectious grooves to the stage.
