Diana and Sabino by Monika S Jakubowska

Women in Jazz Media presents Diana Torti and Sabino de Bari at the Karamel Club on September 21st after their hugely successful event at Toulouse Lautrec in July, launching their new album It’s All We Have

The Karamel club, part of the Collage Arts organisation, situated in Wood Green in London started as a venue in 2006. With over 38 recording studios in the building, Director Preeti Dasgupta explained that some of the artists recording there started asking about live performances and that led to what Karamel is today, a venue programming jazz, world music, and spoken word every week. As a community arts organisation Preeti explains ‘the community is our priority with our doors never closed.  We support hundreds of artists via our studios, recording studios, theatre and venue. It is our DNA.’

Guitarist and composer Sabino de Bari and vocalist Diana Torti will be performing music from their new album which ‘will bring you beyond music labels, into a world made of incredible sounds‘. It’s All We Have is a project where musical composition, improvisation and poetry combine into an intimate, immersive, and magical journey.

Sabino de Bari and Diana Torti have been playing and collaborating since 2006. They have been performing and recording various projects and found their unique sound merging their jazz, classical and more contemporary music backgrounds in an astonishing, visionary and at the same time poetic musical language.  The repertoire you will be listening to will be mostly based on original compositions and some of Diana and Sabino’s favourite jazz standards. ‘It’s All We Have is a project where alongside the musical explorations and ideas, there is an urge to talk about our world and the many ways power is exercised on people – but at the same time where positivity and awareness of the beauty that surrounds us open to a strong feeling of hope’.

“Never before has an album’s deep lyrics contrasted so markedly with the lightness and sheer beauty of its sound” – You can read our review of the album here
