After the paired down all acoustic set, 7 Songs In 7 Days, multi award winning vocalist, pianist, composer, producer ( and our very own senior writer) Fiona Ross is back with her full band and some incredible new songs and striking arrangements.  Drawing on a range of emotions from the punchy horns and enquiring lyrics of ‘A Single Source of Truth’ and the can’t-catch-my-breath ‘The Don’t Stop Just Breathe Ragtime’ the album covers a multitude of topics, feelings and emotions, and Thoughts, Conversations and To Do Lists, is exactly what the album is about. The liner notes on her last two albums were written by Maxine Gordon and Celine Peterson and for this album Fiona has the award winning journalist and author of She Raised Her Voice!: 50 Black Women Who Sang Their Way Into Music History  Jordannah Elizabeth who says ‘Thoughts, Conversations and To Do Lists’ is an incredible album in 2023 that defines Ross’ gifts as a well-honed, recognizable style. As the future draws post-modern life toward and within it, Ross will be heard in a new way; as women in jazz become notable for their compositions and arrangements, as well as her voice. Beyond gender, as a musician and songwriter, the album is a complete culmination of a myriad of viewpoints and thoughtful self-reflection. It’s been my honor to write these liner notes as a part of a lineage of women

Fiona has become known for creating her own contemporary Jazz sound using fast paced Latin Jazz, vintage jazz club and a little neo soul along with heart wrenching ballads through her previous six albums. Named among the 100 Alternative Power Music List in 2020, and recently nominated by the National Diversity Awards for the ‘Positive Role Model’ award, Fiona is also the founder of the award winning Women in Jazz Media organisation. Originally coming to the world’s attention as “The artist that gave Ed Sheeran his ‘first push'” (Daily Express), she very quickly established herself as an artist in her own right and has received incredible reviews across the globe for all of her albums and we anticipate this new album to be no different.

Fiona will be performing with Derek Daley (bass), Marley Drummond (drums), Loren Hignell (saxophones and flute) Dave Boa (trumpets) Oshin Hephzibah (backing vocals) and guest guitarist Marco Piccioni (guitar)
