Featured Gig: Amy Gadiaga at Jazz Cafe Posk

Bassist, vocalist, composer and rising star Amy Gadiaga brings her brilliant set to Jazz Café POSK, London, launching the first of the Women in Jazz Media monthly residencies. October 7th 2022.

Recently signed by Jazz Re:Freshed, Amy bridges the old school jazz tradition of musicians such as Betty Carter and Wayne Shorter with the modern bops of artists such as D’Angelo and Kimbra. Amy’s band offers an energetic performance that celebrates art, freedom and black pride. Having already performed at the EFG London Jazz Festival, the Jazz Cafe and several festivals last year, Amy is currently working on her debut EP.

Over almost three decades, Tomorrow’s Warriors has proved a crucial development platform for many of the artists now tearing up the international jazz scene – Moses Boyd, Nubya Garcia, Cassie Kinoshi and Nérija, Femi Koleoso and Ezra Collective, Binker Golding, Shabaka Hutchings and Sons Of Kemet, Cherise Adams-Burnett, Eska, Denys Baptiste, Soweto Kinch, Zara McFarlane, and so many more…An alumni of the Tomorrow’s Warriors umbrella, Amy is now flying solo and has no limits in terms of genres and disciplines practiced and experimented with.

Having just released her first single ‘Everything I Do‘ Amy explains ‘It’s been quite an intense process as I had to get past my perfectionism and self criticism to finally share something. ‘Everything I do’ is about the tendency to give it all to others and have a little left for yourself; but now it’s changing for me at least !’

Supported by the mighty Cleveland Watkiss MBE, who says  ‘I am so proud of this young woman, one of my students I’ve been mentoring at Trinity Laban Music Conservatoire. Every time I hear her, she goes from strength to strength’, this gig is not to be missed!
