Danish saxophonist and composer Pernille Bévort has written and arranged a string of new tunes for her colourful ensemble, the septet Radio Bévort, and now presents these on her new album BLIK, her 12th as a bandleader.
Radio Bévort is a colourful ensemble where different inspirations and instruments meet. The band consists of a rhythm section of drums, bass and piano/rhodes/accordion combined with 4 woodwinds that “doubles”. This combined with the different compositions and arrangements composed especially for this ensemble, gives the group a special sound with a timbre coloured by the varied woodwind arrangements and the imaginative playing by the rhythm section.
Saxophone player, composer and bandleader Pernille Bévort sets her own mark on the music and stands proudly for her musical conviction. She is known for her intense and creative saxophone playing with everything from duos to big bands. You constantly sense a clear and distinct direction in Bévort’s music; beautiful sonic timbres, exciting rhythmic and melodic progress and – above all – excellent solos.
Radio Bévort is challenging music but still with a lot of fresh melodic lines and moods and it has an ability to affect the listener deeply. Radio Bévort is a channel playing music after the band leaders heart and you are most welcome to join us and listen.
