Today British based saxophonist and vocalist released her new single “All For You”. Recently Kim Cypher has been creating quite a stir on the jazz scene, emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists and composers and firmly securing a reputation for stylish, accessible jazz and musical entertainment. Her last full album release, “Love Kim X” received strong reviews from the press and her accompanying UK tour drew full houses across the country.
All for you was inspired by her late mum who passed away from a brain tumour and was composed as part of her recent larger project ‘For Mum’ which has been raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity. Kim’s ‘For Mum’ project has so far included a sell-out show in London on 2nd March with Kim and her touring band performing alongside Jazz GIANT Ray Gelato.
The project also includes an animated video in conjunction with the song ‘All For You’ created together with artist Martyna Sabadasz. When asked about concept behind the video Kim stated, “The video reflects how I live my life without my mum but with my mum very much by my side inspiring everything I do. I hope the video will be appreciated by anyone inspired by a loved one.”
Kim’s choice to go for an animated video came largely from a desire to do something different with this project rather than just the conventional music video. She went on to explain, “I decided the best way forward was to create an animated video, not only to produce something different and unique but also to be able to reflect the meaning of the song.
“Having spent many hours looking up video animators online and not really feeling any connection with any of them, I suddenly had an overwhelming feeling that I knew exactly the right person to work with. I remembered a Japanese restaurant we had recently visited – Kibou Sushi in my hometown of Cheltenham. I was blown away by the art work they have painted on the restaurant walls. It is truly stunning. I remembered being quite emotional the first time I saw it. So, I asked in the restaurant staff who had created the art work (expecting them to say some worldwide famous artist) but, no, it was a young up and coming artist from Cheltenham – Martyna Sabadasz. It’s fair to say it was “love at first eyelash!”
“Remembering her art work, I was absolutely confident that she was the person I wanted to create the images I had in my mind. So, I called her, we met and I instantly knew I had made the right choice. She just ‘got’ my vision and every time she sent me a new image I was truly overwhelmed at how she had understood what I wanted. She did such a great job, especially as it was her first dabble into the world of animation. With such talent, such an incredible instinct and a lovely manner, Martyna Sabadasz is definitely going places. I couldn’t be more thrilled with my choice.”
