2018 Grammy Award Nominees announced.

Yesterday the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 2018 Grammy Awards. The final round of GRAMMY voting is Dec. 7–21, 2017. The Recording Academy will present the GRAMMY AWARDS® on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, live from Madison Square Garden in New York.

The nominees for the Best Jazz Vocal Album include The Baylor Project,  Jazzmeia Horn,  Raul Midón,  the Randy Porter Trio With Nancy King and Cécile McLorin Salvant. In the category Best Jazz Instrumental Album the nominee’s are Bill Charlap Trio,  Billy Childs,  Joey DeFrancesco & The People,  Fred Hersch and Chris Potter. Artists nominated in more than one category include Fred Hersch and Billy Childs,  both gaining nominations in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo and Best Jazz Instrumental Album categories.

Of special note is the nomination of Vince Mendoza & WDR Big Band Cologne’s album “Homecoming” in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category.
