In September of this year we published an article on the new jazz video streaming platform QwestTV. The platform founded by Quincy Jones and TV producer Rezza Ackbaraly successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter raising just over €142,000 and generating over 1,000 backers.

Tonight QwestTV will host an event in Paris at La Petite Halle to celebrate the worldwide launch of the worldwide platform. The event will feature an all star line-up including Sylvain Luc, Jacob Collier, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Médéric Collignon & Reggie Washington, David Murray, Sly Johnson and many more.

The event starts at 9:00pm and is open to those that have already subscribed to QwestTV via the Kickstarter campaign. For non-subscribers the event will be streamed live on the QwestTV website and on their Facebook page.

For those readers that are unaware of QwestTV, the platform can be seen as the “Netflix for Jazz” featuring hundreds of hours of hand-picked concerts, documentaries, interviews, short features, all available in high-resolution video and all without ads. Subscribers will have the ability to watch anytime, anywhere on mobile devices, computers, and connected TVs.

Co-founder of the platform Quincy Jones stated “I believe that a hundred years from now, when people look back at the 20th century, they will view Bird, Miles and Dizzy, as our Mozart, Bach, Chopin and Tchaikovsky, and it is my hope that Qwest TV will serve to carry forth and build on the great legacy that is jazz for many generations to come.”
