Nigel J. Farmer

During the last few months we have been working hard behind the scenes at Jazz In Europe and are now in a position to announce that effective immediately Nigel J. Farmer will be taking on the position of Editor in Chief of Jazz in Europe.

Nigel will take over from Peter McLaren who stepped in after the untimely passing of founder Johan van Deeg in 2014 as interim editor. While Peter has handed over the editorial reins to Nigel, he will be remaining on-board as one of the Jazz In Europe writers and will be focusing his energy on CD reviews. We thank Peter for his work over the last two years and wish him well with his new endeavors.

Next to his new position at Jazz In Europe, Nigel is also the founder and producer of the Canadian based jazz radio station “Jazz Republic Radio”. Nigel comes from a musical family with both parents playing swing and big band jazz. From a young age he traveled widely living and working on four continents. With over 40 years of successful entrepreneurial experience supported by a academic background we believe Nigel is the perfect person to move Jazz In Europe to the next level.

When asked to comment on his new appointment Nigel stated “I’m Looking forward to taking up this challenge. There is a great deal of Synergy between Jazz In Europe and Jazz Republic Radio and while each platform will retain it’s own identity there are many opportunities to leverage both platforms to bring European jazz to a wider audience.”

In the next few months we will be making a number of announcements including some well needed website upgrades, the introduction of a digital magazine with “Print on Demand” capability  and a new series of video interviews.

Stay tuned folks.
