Swing Festival Breda

Written by | Festivals, News

The Dutch town of Breda has a long tradition as a jazz city. The annual Jazz Festival that takes place in the early summer attracts hundreds of thousands of people. In addition for the last seven years in October the Swing festival takes palce, and it’s for free.

Jan Learbuch who organizes the festival describes it as a compact festival for a large audience taking place on Sunday 26 October. The festival takes place in the inner city of Breda with seven concerts in six venues on the Sunday afternoon. Swing, soul, bebop, funk and pop are the ingredients of the success formula throughout the years. It is precisely this mix that makes the festival unique, says Jan Learbuch.

The soloists to see this this year are the Belgian trumpeter Carlo Nardozza and the Dutch trombonist Bert Boeren. Both of them are in demand soloists at major international festivals. Other groups on the play list are the trio of pianist Thomas Daula, Anne Chris Quartet, Susanne Alt and Eric Vieira Quartet.
