Jazz in Europe has relaunched under the guidance of founder and chief editor Johan van Deeg–providing greater coverage and reaching a wider readership.
Due to health reasons, Johan van Deeg will step down as chief editor effective on 1 June 2014 and oversee the transition in ownership to Dutch-based media company, MFM Media. Van Deeg, who has suffered from poor health since early 2013, sought out MFM Media to carry on the Jazz in Europe legacy.
MFM’s Media Manager Ronald Gerritzen stated “Jazz In Europe fits perfectly within our portfolio and allows us to support the original mission while building greater awareness of Jazz In Europe through various strategic partnerships. Unfortunately, due to Johan’s illness, the content stream on Jazz In Europe slowed substantially over the last few months, and our first task is to rebuild our community of readers and writers.”
MFM Media is no newcomer to the jazz world–the company has worked with a number of prominent clients in both in the United States and Europe. In January, MFM partnered with All About Jazz, the internet’s longest running and most popular jazz website to create the All About Jazz Magazine. MFM Media’s General Manager, Andrew Read stated that the partnership with All About Jazz has been a great success with the 1st edition of the Magazine achieving a 100k plus readership. We plan to partner with All About Jazz again to leverage both Jazz In Europe and the All About Jazz platform to reach a wider audience interested both European jazz and attending European jazz events.”
“All About Jazz and Jazz in Europe are a formidable team, and combined, reach the majority of the jazz readers on the internet. MFM’s management have blazed a trail for jazz online over the last 3 years, advocating for the music and providing online marketing and promotional solutions for musicians and organizations,” said All About Jazz and Jazz Near You founder, Michael Ricci. “We’re excited to help carry on the good work of Johan van Deeg.”
MFM Media would like to personally thank Johan for his friendship and dedication to Jazz In Europe, and we wish him strength and a speed recovery in the coming months.
